I came up with this recipe in our effort to eat healthier. I still want to feel like I’m indulging myself but don’t always want or need the calories from ice cream. This frozen yogurt is delicious and super easy to make. If you haven’t tried frozen yogurt before be warned that it does have a very tangy yogurty-ness. So if you don’t like yogurt you may want to skip trying this recipe. Rick wasn’t expecting so much tangy-ness but after the first couple of bites he said it’s not so “in your face tangy”.
To start, melt 8oz dark chocolate in a heatproof bowl set over a saucepan of simmering water, stirring frequently to ensure even melting.
While the chocolate is melting, place 26oz of Greek yogurt in a medium bowl and whisk until it’s smooth, set aside. When the chocolate is melted remove it from the heat and whisk in 1cup sugar, 1/2cup cocoa powder, 2tsp vanilla extract and a pinch of salt. Then whisk in 2/3cup half&half*. Add the yogurt and whisk until well blended.
Cover and refrigerate for an hour, until chilled. Whisk again then freeze in an ice cream maker according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
* Feel free to use a mixture of milk and cream or just milk in place of the half&half.

2tsp vanilla extract
26oz plain Greek yogurt
pinch of salt
